Retrospectively, the rugby match against Marlborough at Blenheim on Wednesday was of especial significance to Alex Wyllie — it was his two hundredth first class match for Canterbury. Only the record-holder, Fergie McCormick, with 222 appearances, has played more games for the province. Wyllie’s total was boosted by games for Canterbury sub-unions in first class fix-
