PA Auckland Greg Robinson, one of New Zealand’s top pacers, | could win his Auckland i owner, thousands of dollars! at Alexandra Park tonight [ without any opposition. Mr M. M. Robinson, who [ owns, trains and drives the horse, will try with Greg | Robinson to break the track I record for a mile of imin 58.35, using a sulky imported from the United States by the Auckland Trotting Owners, Trainers and Breeders’ Association. The sulky is rated from two to three seconds faster than those used in New Zealand. Mr Robinson will receive $5OO if Greg Robinson breaks 2min which is regarded as a formality. Breaking the track record will be worth $2500, the New Zealand record (Imin 56.25), $lO,OOO, and the world record (Imin, 525) $20,000. An 0.T.8. spokesman said last night the money was being put up by a sponsor who wished to remain anonymous at this stage.
