Favourite’s failure
Early Riser, favourite far the Seadown Handicap at the Amberley meeting on Saturday, failed to jump away with the field and was in the last three on settling.
Although ridden with vigour at different stages of the race Early Riser did not show any improvement. His rider, Jim Collett, told stewards he thought the horse was at a disadvantage in the [track conditions.
