Ten years ago a small band of visionary people set out to provide Christchurch with a Wildlife Reserve comparable with' the best in the world. Today that vision is a reality and we take this opportunity to thank those who have worked so hard to provide us all with such a wonderful park. Twenty-five years ago, also in Christchurch an Industrial Chemist who like those who built Orana Park had not only the vision but also an intense appreciation for conservation of all resources, set out in his laboratory to experimentally re-refine used lubricating oils. Today the Glydol Oil Refinery is testimony to that vision, recovering millions of litres of used oil that would otherwise pollute our environment or be lost for all time.
