OVERSEAS INTEREST
Interest in the world ploughing contest, which will be held near Lincoln in Canterbury in May next year, is likely to bring quite a lot of visitors to New Zealand from overseas.
Mr R. J. Conway, of Conway Travel Centre, Ltd, of Ashburton, whose firm are official travel agents for the contest, said this week that present indications were that about 200 participants and supporters would be coming from Europe and 160 from Australia.
This was “pretty encouraging,” he said. The secretary of the organising committee for the contest, Mr P. F. Wood, said he had received inquiries about the contest from Australia, Ireland, Austria and the United Kingdom. ~
