Spy Force, the start sprinter at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Easter meeting, seems likely to improve! a strong record in the second leg of the Amberley Racing Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow. Spv Force is coming back from’ 1400 to 1200 m after two big runs at Riccarton, but he has drawn well in the G. B. Starky Memorial, and should find enough early speed to stay within challenging distance of speedsters of the style of Hi Roona, Greek Magic, and others.

double, was a triumph last: y ir for Otago, with Mr Ay Bee and Loma Lass filling the first two places. Southern domination of Canterbury’s middle-distance handicaps’ has continued in the meantime, and the combined efforts of Prodigal and Her Greatest should again pose problems for Canterbury’s best. Prodigal won on this icourse on April 9, then ran I third in the George Adams I Handicap and fourth in the I Great Autumn at Riccarton. Her Greatest whs unI beaten in three starts in
lower grade races at the| Riccarton Easter carnival. i The Canterbury runner! best fitted to dull the edge! of the southern onslaught • might be Star Order, winner; of the Nelson and Hororatai Cups this season. Star Order, at his last! start, finished third in MiAy Bee's Great Autumn; Handicap, coming from far back for that placing. Any change to soft or heavy footing will suit Star Order better than most.
