British league team beset by injuries

PA Leeds The Great Britain rugby league team, already weakened by the withdrawal of experienced winger, John Bevan through injury, has been hit by two new worries for the tour to Australia and New Zealand. The team leaves London on Monday May 21, for the three month, 28-match tour. Bevan, the former Welsh and British Lion rugby union star, pulled out of the

trip with an elbow injury, and the St Helens hooker, Graham Liptrot, and Widnes winger, Stuart Wright, gave the selectors more worries this week. Liptrot needed nine stitches in facial injuries after a car accident this week. But he should be fit to make his first tour. Wright was injured in Tuesday’s home victory over Wigan but the Widnes secretary said he was confident Wright, would recover in time for the tour.
