All Black selection
PA Wellington Members of the All Black team which meets France in two tests in July will not be eligible for selection in the New Zealand XV to play Argentina in September. The chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union (Mr C. Blazey) said yesterday that the players in the Argentine international would wear the AH Black jersey. “But those who actually olay against France in the tests will not be considered for the Argentine games.
The reason is that it gives more players the opportunity to play, with 25 players to be selected later for the tour to Scotland and England. It gives them further experience.”
The All Black team which toured South America in 1976 consisted of players selected from those who had not made the trip to South Africa.
Because Argentina is not a member of the International Rugby Board, the matches between the two countries will not be recognised as full tests.
