Mixed market in Australia
Mining stocks weakened, and industrials were mixed on Australian markets yesterday Weaker prices for gold, and other metals, affected
the market. B.H.P. closed unchanged at 950 c. Amidst the reports from banks, and their finance subsidiaries, the Bank of N.S.W. fell 5c to 362 c, the National eased 3c to 252 c, but the A.N.Z. gained 10c to 455 c.
, Swan Brewery rose 22c to I 175 c. The company reported • a profit downturn, but announced a one-for-eight , bonus issue with new shares I participating in the final divi-
dend. David Jones gained 5c to 115 c, Ansett improved 4c to 117 c, and Myer put on 2c to 168 c. Western Mining gained 2c to 240 c, but most other leading miners were steady or down. Coal groups were mixed.
