MARKET LEADERS DOMINATE FALLS

Market leaders dominated the falls on a mixed, active New Zealand , sharemarket yesterday. However, despite the N.Z.U.C. index easing 1.34 points to 33’2.35, there were 35 rises. Transvision rose 5c to 16Gc on its higher profit and dividend, while Haywrights continued to improve, gaining 2c to 90c. Market sentiment may have been influenced to some extent by the comments bv the managing-director of General Finance (Mr F. V. Noble Beasley) that it was doubtful that interest rates would fall, as predicted by the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon).
