Stalkers to meet in Chch
The 1979 national deerstalkers’ conference will be held in Christchurch from July 5 to 7. About 150 deerstalkers from 70 clubs are ex-, pected to attend the conference in the clubrooms of the Deerstalkers’ Association in Lincoln Road.
Guests at the opening session on July 5 will include the Mayor (Mr H. G. Hay) the member of Parliament for Sydenham (Mr N. J. Kirk), the Conservator of Forests (Mr J. W. Levy), the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr E. J. Davies), the Deputy Chief Commissioner of Police (Mr G. Twentyman), and Mr M. Murchison, of Lake Coleridge station, who will represent Federated Farmers.
Some of the matters expected to be discussed during the three-day conference are deer farming, live animal capture, venison recovery, and firearms legislation.
