Taking the plunge ate the long-distance swimmer, Meda McKenzie, and the Wellington disc jockey, John Sweetman, who have announced their engagement. The couple met seven months ago when both were working in a promotion at the dive show held by Radio Hauraki in Auckland. They will be married in Wellington on January 26. Meda, who is 16, was the first person to swim Cook Strait both ways, and the first woman to swim Foveaux Strait. John, who is known as George, comperes the 8 p.m.-to-midnight show for Radio 2ZM.
