MARKET CLOSES ON STEADY NOTE
The New Zealand sharemarket closed the short trading week in an active note in steady, mixed fashion. Rises and falls were in balance, and the N.Z.U.C. index eased 0.72 points to 334.70. NZ. Forest gained 1c to 233 c, but Radio Avon eased 5c to 305 c on the latest rating report N.Z. Light Leathers fell a further 5c to 90c on its loss in the latest 15-month period. Cook Wines lost 13c to 235 c, perhaps in reaction to the easy market trend and the fact that Rothmans is not going to renew the bid for the company.
