Optimism about Atlantis

NZPA-Reuter Lisbon Soviet oceanographers really believe they found the lost continent of Atlantis, a Portuguese Government official has said Dr Marcello Vasconcelos, head of Portugal’s National Institute for Fishing Research, told Associated Press that several members of the Soviet oceanographic team who claim to have photographed the ruins of a city some 400 km off the Portuguese coast appeared to be confident of the discovery during a visit to his institute. Dr Vasconcelos explained that he and his colleagues could not offer a professional opinion on the reported find, but he added that the Soviet scientists appeared to be highly optimistic about further tests on the photographs.
