Longfelllow Deeds wins at trials

Longfellow Deeds and Master Regal fought out the finish to the main heal Of

the Addington barrier trials !yesterday, a rehearsal for tomorrow’s Max Harvey Handicap. In the hands of his racejday driver, Felix Newfield, Longfellow Deeds was safely away, if a shade slow, and ,;the seven-year-old settled at the rear of the six-horse field, with Master Regal just i in front of him. J The Robert Dunn-trained (stallion received a drag up .when Master Regal made a i forward move from the 1600 m to sit in the open. Master Regal led soon -after the final turn, but (Longfellow Deeds came with Ithe last run to win by a , hard-earned half head with , Lord Warden making ground .well for third. The Willie Win filly looks a sound prospect in the $5OOO Leonard Memorial Stakes at Ransiora on Saturday. The two-year-old trotters’ event was won by the smart Rodney Day chestnut Robert Day, which stormed home when clear over the final ,50m to beat the pacemaking I Kiltie Boy on the line.
