Fighting father issues challenge
NZPA Wellington A Timaru man who has been fighting a battle for the last three years against what he sees as abuses of the rule of law has issued a challenge to the Attorney-General (Mr McLay.) Mr Wallace Reed has been campaigning since his son, Gregory, was arrested in July, 1976, on charges of importing heroin. The son was sentenced in February, 1977, to six years imprisonment,
but was freed after he had served 17 months of the sentence. Mr Reed said in a statement that he had written to Mr McLay asking that he appear on television with him to discuss questions about the case that Ministers, public servants, and the Government had refused to answer. Mr McLay has received Mr Reed’s letter, but declines to say whether he will accept the invitation to appear on television to disduss the case.
