Last year’s "Wider horizons” programme, offered by the Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association. had 2167 enrolments. The chairman (Mr A. W. Brand) told the annual meeting of the association’s "wider horizons” committee that the subjects offered had been “challenging, interesting and varied." Among the most popular courses were those on current affairs, historic Canterbury, instruments of the orchestra, “Looking at birds.” ‘We are what we eat, think and feel,” and “Can I do what I want to do?” A record 900 enrolments have been received for the programme for the first term this year.
