Mr Scott N.Z.'s man in France, and O.E.C.D.
Mr J. V. Scott has bees made New Zealand’s representative to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation [and Development (O.E.C.D.)'. Mr Scott, who succeeds Mr 5. G. McArthur, also serves, like his predecessor, as New Zealand Ambassador to Paris.
After naval service during World War 11, Mr Scolit entered the diplomatic service in 1947, serving wi‘h the permanent mission of New Zealand at the United Nations in New York between 1951 and 1956. He was counsellor at the High Commission in London between 1958 and 1962 and became head of the Economic Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and than Assistant Secretary, there in 1964.
[ In 1965, Mr Scott was appointed ambassador to Japan land in 1969 became a perimanent representative to the United Nations. From 1971 jto 1973, he was his coun- ) try’s representative on the | Economic and Social Council jof the United Nations, and I vice-president of the Council. Returning to New Zealand, {Mr Scott was appointed ■ Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
