Mayo Mellay amiss
Special correspondent Cambridge The good handicapper Mayo Mellay. which was a recent winner at Trentham and an acceptor for the Bay of Plenty Cup at Tauranga on Saturday, went amiss in a training gallop at Cambridge yesterday. Scheduled to gallop a round of the plough with its stablemate. Jon Claude. Mayo Mellay was pulled up by its rider, J. Melton, about 800 m from the finish. When walked back he was obviouslv favouring his near hind leg but did not seem to be undulv distressed. His trainer, Brian Smith, said 1 Mavo Mellay had had a cracked
pelvis earlier in his career. He did not know exactly what was wrong but the horse would have a thorough veterinary inspection.
