The Christchurch Airport Authority will bring 300 Australian travel agents to Christchurch on October 3 and 4 as part of a promotion exercise. The Mayor of Cliristchurch (Mr H. G. Hay) announced this at a meeting of the South Island Promotion Association, and handed a submission to the Minister of Tourism (Mr Cooper) asked for Government assistance of “not less than” $ 100,000 for follow-up promotion in Australia. Mr Hay said that when the authority’ approached

The two-day seminar would be held in Christchurch, said Mr Hay. Approaches had already been made for the 300 beds needed during the visit. The travel agents, and a few journalists, would spend three days visiting the North Island and four days in the South Island. Qantas and Air New Zealand would provide free travel he said.
