Chch office
The Design Council has been trying for some years to base a Field Officer in a Christchurch office. An appointment in 1974 was cut short by lack of funds in 1975, and an office was reopened only
in the latter part of 1978 through the co-operation of the D.S.I.R. The Canterbury Industrial Development Division (C.1.D.D.) of the D.S.I.R. have provided accommodation in their building at 33 Southwark Street and the Field Officer is reached through their switchboard on 62-369. Alan Leggat, the Christchurch Field Adviser for the Design Council, is a civil engineering graduate from the University of Canterbury, with a wide range of experience in industrial management. Five years with the Ministry of Works and Development as a construction engineer was followed by management positions in New Zealand and Australia.
