Second-place Social Credit seats
Sir, — Nigel S. Roberts (February 21) has pointed out that Social Credit was second in 12 electorates besides regaining a redrawn Rangitikei. The National Party needs reminding it was put back to restore our ailing economy which will require all its time, resources and energy. It is not there to wage guerrilla warfare on political opponents in 10 selected electorates. The present monetary system has resulted in chaos on a world scale. If Social Credit is as poor an alternative as Mr Chapman and his party say, why do they not come up with a better one? Surely the brain of man with Moon landings and Venus and Mars probes to its credit can devise a system that facilitates the exchange of goods and services, rather than hinders as the present one does. — Yours, etc.,
A. M. COATES. February 22, 1979.
