Ambulances’ busier
Ambulances of the Christchurch sub-centre of the St John Ambulance Association carried mere patients last month than lin January, 1978, but travelled fewer kilometres to do so.
They attended 110 vehicle accidents last month, an increase of 28 on the previous January, and carried 2637 patients altogether (2528 in January, 1978). Total mileage for the ambulance fleet dropped from 33,042 km in January, last year, to 31,557 km last month.
Miscellaneous journeys, such as hospital transfers and non-urgent transport; of patients, numbered 133 i(an increase of 21 on January, last year); attendance at industrial accidents numbered seven (an increase of one); and attendance, at collapses numbered 133 '/up 34).
