Air fares
Sir, — It would appear once again that the New Zealand travelling public have been conned by Air New Zealand, with the recent, non event, cheap fare announcement. Our national carrier, smarting from the “NO” it has received from the Australian Government on its effort to obtain the new Sydney-Auckland-Los Angeles cheap fares, has increased, rather than decreased the majority of New Zealand-United States fares. One would hope that these increases are not to compensate for the inevitable loss of the Air New Zealand, Sydney-Los Angeles revenue. Let us hope that Pan American and Continental can introduce their cheap fares without interference from Air New Zealand and the
New Zealand Government —Yours, etc.,
R. COUPER. February 8, 1979.
