Chch’s premier street judged on Feb. 12

It is time for many Christchurch gardeners to be busy with lawnmowers, edge clippers, and hoes. The Christchurch Beautifying Association’s annual street competition will reach its climax in a few days time. Preliminary judging has been completed and 138 streets have been chosen for the final judging, which will begin on February 6. The judges will be the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. G. Hay), local councillors, and members of the Christchurch Beautifying Association.

Nine section winners will be picked from the 138 streets and the premier street award will be announced by Mr Hay on February 12.

Judging of the best streets is based on general

appearance, community effort. and the contributing gardens. Street winners of the previous year are not eligible for one year.
