ENSURE YOUR BARLEY IS MALTING QUALITY Damage to your barley grain should not occur • Use of any chemical defoliant is unacceptable and would result in the Malting Barley Contract being cancelled. • Leave the crop until the grain is fit and the STRAW is mellow for threshing. • A few days patience will produce a better sample and reduce threshing time. • Rub the grain out with a sensible slow rubbing action. GRADING STANDARD Moisture content is critical for storage BULK BARLEY 14% OC IGSS • Skinned, broken or sprouted barley less than 5%. • Screenings premium sample to 5% graduated down in quality to a maximum acceptable level of 12%.
