Newspaper director, Mr Guy Cross, dies
PA Tauranga: Mr Guy Wallis Cross, the assistant managing director of the “Bay of Plenty Times,” and a member of the family newspaper’s board of directors, died suddenly at his home in Tauranga, on Saturday afternoon. He was 54. Guy Cross, the only son of| Mr and Mrs W. F. W. Cross, i was born in Tauranga, and] attended Scot’s College. Wei-! lington. He took an appren-H ticeship in the joinery and carpentry trade, then was :
i building and contracting in his own right. He joined the “Bay of Plenty Times” in November, 1957, as the circulation manager, when the circulation was 6000 copies daily. This had increased to more than 15,500 when he was promoted to the administration division. Mr Cross took an active part in Freemasonry, was a i member of the Tauranga-Te )Puke Gun Club, and a member of the Tauranga Golf Club. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
