No liquor price-rise
No application had been made to the Trade and Industry Department for approval for a rise in the price of liquor "at this stage,” said a Lion Breweries spokesman yesterday. The last increase in the price of liquor was in August last year. The industry has applied for increases every six months.
Since last August an agreement has been reached for a 13 per cent wage increase for brewery workers and an 11.8 per cent wage increase tor hotel workers. The hotel workers, including barmen, waiters, cooks and porters, will get the increase from February 7. Their aw’ard will run for two years, with a further 9 oer cent wage increase after ■hie hrst 12 months.
