Qualifications desired: A comprehensive background of recent experience in Civil or Military Aviation, operational and technical. Applicant to hold or have held a Commercial Pilot Licence, but preferably Airline Transport Pilot Licence, or military equivalent with multi-engine instrument and flight instructor ratings; engineering or specialist technical qualifications or experience, including knowledge of aircraft systems and modern poWer-plants and fixed and rotary-wing aerodynamics; temperamental suitability, an analytical mind, maturity of judgment and ability to produce well written technical papers and statistical analyses are important criteria. Previous experience or qualifications as an aircraft accident investigator and/or as a helicopter pilot will be added advantage. Duties: Appointee will be required, after an appropriate training period, to assist in investigation of accidents under supervision and later to conduct certain investigations unaided; to meet a prescribed standard of medical fitness; to be on call outside normal working hours and prepared to travel at very short notice.
