Russian story on radio
"A Week Like Any Other,” on the National radio programme tonight, is not so much a drama as a heightened documentary based on a recent short story by Russian writer Natalya Baranskaya.
Its subject matter is expressed by the title for it
follows the day to dav routines of a Soviet woman, Olga Voronkova. It’s as though we were eavesdropping as we go
with Olga through her week. The piay raises issues simply by recording events, giving a picture of life in contemporary Russia and showing some of the difficulties a woman like Olga has to face and
the stresses of ordinary existence.
“A Week Like Any Other” features Glynis McNicoll as Olga and was produced for Radio New Zealand by Gareth Jones.
