To resume Jan. 3

As has been the case for a number of years now there will be no killing at freezing works between Christmas and New Year. Most works will kill a half day today before closing for the holidays but some finished yesterday. A Canterbury Frozen Meat Company spokesman said this week that beef killing for boning would cease yesterday. All works will resume again on Wednesday, January 3. Addington market will resume after the holidays on Tuesday, January 9, with the sale of prime stock. Store stock will be sold on the following day.
