Less B.L. Allegros
i ° Production in Britain of the British Leyland Allegro has been cut back by 25 per cent because of a drop in demand for the car. B.L. has enough Allegros stockpiled to satisfy orders for four months on present demands and the huge company is looking for 1300 “voluntary redundancies” at the Allegro Birmingham plant. Mini production has also been scooting ahead of demand and 30 per cent fewer are to be made, along with 1.7 per cent cut-back in Maxi output.
