Disco ‘covers cost’
I The number who attended; the disco dance at Canter-i bury Court on Saturday; ’evening was “not worth advertising,” according to the promoter, Mr Stephen i Brodie. I Mr Brodie, the promoter | 'for First Class Promotions, Ltd, had predicted that 3000 would attend the dance. Last evening he said that about 800 had passed through between 1 p.m. on Saturday to 1 a.m. on Sunday. . About 300 to 400 were present at 10 p.m. he said.
I; “We would have cleared] J costs and that is about it,”, he said, noting that many ■ free tickets had been given . away. i He said the show was “really good,” and that more ■ people might have attended had the venue been more I central. However, he had not ; given up hope, and plans ■ were being made to hold a > couple of discos, possibly in the Christchurch Town Hall, s “some time after Christmas.”
