Stricter policing of clubs
PA Dunedin Stricter policing of clubs which do not hold ancillary liquor licences is expected to be announced by tne Commissioner of Police (Mr R. J. Walton) early in the New Year. The head of the Dunedin police district, Chief Superintendent M. J. K. Ford, told a police parade in Dunedin that in the new year the Commissioner!
would announce a programme in relation to clubs which have not acquired ancillary licences. “They will have to March 31, I believe, to look to their laurels and from then on they may not lead such happy lives,” he said. Mr Ford was addressing a police parade at the Dunedin Town Hall concert chamber during the presentation of long-service medals to Otago policemen.
