[quiry, detective inspector M. !G. Charles, of Auckland, said that the man would face charges relating to fake American currency with a “face value” of $31,641. So far, all but $3400 of the currency had been recovered. Christchurch detectives were continuing inquiries into “certain aspects,” Mr Charles said. The man, a foreigner, had been charged on four counts of possessing forged banknotes, 36 of uttering forged banknotes, and one alleging, a breach of New Zealand ex-; change control regulations,: he said.
