Cup cricket to Nelson
Nelson beat North Canterbury by 155 runs in the first innings in a Hawke Cup elimination match at Trafalgar Park, Nelson, at the week-end. A feature of the match was superb batting by the Nelson colt, Andrew Jones, who scored 106. He and his captain, Terry Horne, came together when Nelson was 73 for three and put on 154 runs before Horne lost his wicket. Scores: Nelson 290/9dec. ("Jones 106, Horne 68, B. Schwass 33; F. Marlborough at Blenheim on January 13 and 14. The winner of that game will play the holder of the cup, Wairarapa.
