The duties involve the maintenance of ail the station’s electrical equipment ranging from high voltage transformers, circuits breakers and generators through to staff houses. Registration as an electrician is desirable but not essential. This is a pemanent position (after a satifactory probationary period) and normal annual leave, sick leave and superannuation conditions applyA remote alowance is payable and 21 hours travelling time is paid for the daily launch journey across Lake Manapouri. Accommodation is available for married and single persons at reasonable rentals. The single men’s hostel is located at West Arm. The successful applicant will be responsible to the Generation Engineer. Experience in maintenance and operation of hydro powerstation mechanical plant, including control gates, screens, and water control systems generally would be an advantage.
