Aust. polo side to visit Chch

A highlight of the approaching South Island polo season will be a visit by the West Australian team to Ryan’s Road next March. West Australia will meet the southern zone on March 4. The last time an Australian team came to New Zealand was in Febuary, 1977, when the Australian national team beat the South Island, 9-4, won its other provincial matches, and then lost its only test against New Zealand at Hamilton, 8-5. Another event of interest will be the Skene Cup, which will be contested in Blenheim on March 30, 31 and April 1. This will be the second time the tournament has been held in the South Island: two years ago at Ashburton the home side beat Ashley, 7-1, in the final. Other South Island tournament dates are:
