THE COMPANY: The Nauru Phosphate Corporation which was formed by the Republic of Nauru to deve op phosphate deposits on thejsiand is seeking an Assistant Harbpur Master. THE POSITION: Applicant will supervise Pacific island labour' in ths moonng, shifting arjd unmooring of. ships as required. Supervise the loading of rock phosphate and direct, loading to the holds. Organise, direct and supervise general cargo discharge and loading including slinging heavy lifts. Supervise Asian and Pacific island labourand tradesmen in the maintenance of barges, .boats, mooring buoys, cranes and cargo handling gear! THE PERSON: Appli cants should hold a Master’s Foreign Going Certificate and have sound experience in handling the unloading and mooring of large ships. Ability to organize and supervise labour is essential. Age group open. SALARY: Commencing salary will be $A8640 per.annum (tax free on Nauru) plus a Married . Island allowance of $9OO per annum and $5OO for a Single and a Child allowance of $6O per child under 18 years of age. CONDITIONS: Employment is on a permanent basis after satisfactory completion of the first 18 months-term of service. Free passage to the island and return on leave. Approximately 2 /2 months leave plus travelling time on full pay and allowances after 18 months term of service on the Island. Immediate superannuation and other staff benefits available. Furnished married accommodation is available at a rental of $lO per week. Single accommodation and 'messing is $BlO per annum.
