Fine wools made a small ( improvement at the Christ- ’ church wool sale yesterday and the crossbred market, according to the official re- s port, was firm The offering of 26,771 bales comprised wool drawn in the main from the Can- i terbury plains, a good quantity as usual from Marlborough. and a smaller quantity from Nelson the West ' Coast, and the Chathams A wide range of qualities and types was available, and , in spite of the severe : drought last summer the wool opened up surprsingh well Compared with the Dunedin sale on November 9 1 Merino wools were up to 21 per cent dearer; fine to extra-strong halfbred as ; well as halfbred skirting were in sellers' favour, halfbred woolly hoggets were 1 firm, and halfbred oddments were 21 per cent dearer. Compared with the Auck- ! land sale held on November 29 all crossbred descriptions were firm The Wool Board gave i limited support to the market by bidding on approximately 3 per cent of the offering.
