Wellington reporter Good paintings met a i ready sale at an auction of New" Zealand ait at Welling-‘ ton. However, more middle-: range works than the market could stand were offered, and , prices for them were low. A John Gibb oil, “Autumn Evening at Cashmere. Canterbury Plains,” was sold for: $3400. and works by C. D. Barraud. J. C. Hoyte, W. G. Baker, and L. W. Wilson sold well. Frances Hodgkins and S.l L. Thompson were the most successful twentieth century artists: “Summer House.” by! Frances Hodgkins, sold for: S2OOO.
