PA Auckland The Auckland Zoo is preparing what was hoped to be a Christmas present for two lonely male kiwis • in the San Diego Zoo. hope their present will be reciprocated — with two white rhinos. The zoo’s curator (Mr G. W. Meadows) said negotiations were already under way with a London zoo to exchange two more kiwis.
"Kiwis are an extremely good bargaining point,” said Mr Meadows, “because they are an unusual bird which many zoos want."
