Selector ready for Beaumont
Special correspondent Dunedin Selector returned a smart effort in his final trial for Beaumont at Wingatui yesterday. Working on the plough (fast). Selector ran 1200 m in
Imin 14.45, the last 800 m with Cara Dat in 49.15. Selector is a light-weight prospect in the Mackinlays Handicap. Grey Angel was showing clear' of Masteries after running 800 m in 49.45. Country Knight was shad ing Playtime after sprinting from the 600 m in 36.45. Bits and Pieces and Bren Whit, which has had a foot problem, returned 37s at the end of a lap. Papoose was travelling keenly outside The Listener after running 1000 m in Imin 3.35, the last 800 m in 50.85. Trelesse worked over a round and sprinted her last 600 m with Lomai in 375. Mellseur, which has thrived since the New Zealand Cup meeting, ran 600 m in 37.45, ion the sand, easily the best Effort on that track. Hasukd bolted in training on Wednesday morning and this may affect his chance in the Powell Memorial Handicap at Beaumont,
