The Canterbury centre does not want to recognise any non-registered runners in tomorrow’s D.B. Great Westland marathon, says our Greymouth reporter. But the marathon liaision officer, J. E. Stuart, . said yesterday that this would not affect the official entries in the event. The organisers
wanted to encourage participation in the sport and so would recognise any entrant. “After all we only hold about two races a year and the Canterbury centre can hold a race each week,” said Mr Stuart. “It is hardly worth Coasters registering for one or two races a year.”
