70 respond to music scheme
( PA Wellington I A pilot scheme of ad--1 vanced music tuition for | gifted students in small regional centres has attracted a good response from 70 people and the first 12-month programme has been launched in the Bay of Plenty, the organisers said. The scheme is being run by the Music Federation of New Zealand, which identifies students interested in the same instruments and matches them with the best teachers available. The federation’s president (Mr A. Hilton) said that with more than 70 persons expressing interest in the scheme four groups would be chosen to take part in the first four pilot teaching programmes.
