Herlihy for U.S.
PA Hamiltor New Zealand’s No. 1 softbal pitcher, Kevin Herlihy, has a' last succumbed to the temptatim of playing a season for ai American club. Herlihy will spend six month: from next April with the Sag inaw team in Michigan. While most of New Zealand: leading pitchers have ptayec with American clubs in recen rears Herlihy, who been tel ected as New Zealand's toi pitcher for the past 12 years has turned down numerou: offers. Saginaw is a member of th( International Softball Congress which does not have any resi dential restrictions. The main reason why Herlih; ! has not signed up for an Ameri can team before is because 0 his career as manager of Hamil ton's Public Service Investmen Society store, but the society ha: given him six months leave t( play in the United States.
I The Cambridge Blue Streaks | and Waikato pitcher knows little about the club he is to join, except that it was ranked seventh in th© LS.C. last year. Fellow New Zealand pitcher, Owen Walford. has played for Saginaw for the past two years.
