Cyclone toll 500
The death toll in a cyNone which hit Sri Lanka List week has reached 500 T.-.d may rise, the State-run Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation has said. Unofficial sources said the deaths might be as many as 1000. One million people have been affected by the cyclone which destroyed more than 500,000 buildings after hitting the east coast of the island on Thursday night with winds up to 160km/h, the radio said. — Colombo.
