New post for registrar

Mr T. A. F. Withers, Registrar of the Supreme Court in Christchurch, has been appointed Registrar of the Magistrate’s Court in Wellington.

He was notified about the new appointment by the Assistant Secretary for Justice (Mr E. M. Comerford) yesterday. The telegram arrived at his office "out of the blue,” he said. The post was one of several he had applied for some time ago.

Mr Withers has not yet accepted the new post. He said last evening that he was waiting to see when he would be expected to take up the appointment.

“I can’t see them asking me to go until next year,” he said.
