Support for World Council
ipA Wellington I The Presbyterian Church has reaffirmed its support | for the World Council of (Churches programme to combat racism. I Its General Assembly decisively approved a motion to this effect in Wellington ' yesterday, and also com- ; mended the Church’s voluntary fund for donations. I One of the speakers dur-
i ing the debate on the motion was the Moderator (the Rt. i Rev. Dr Alan Brash) who r vacated the chair to the pref vious moderator, the Very > Rev. Norman Gilkinson. Dr Brash, until recently 7 - the deputy general secretary i of the World Council of i Churches, emphasised that - no ordinary giving by Pres- - byterians went to the fund. He was ashamed that this ■ was so.
He had received one donation of $lOO during the Assembly, for the fund. For almost all grants given under the programme, there had been full accounting. But it was not asked for in advance.
