NZPA Landon. The New' Zealand-born aviatrix, Jean Batten, who flew many solo recordbreaking flights in the 19305, has been awarded the honour of the Freedom of London. Miss Batten, who naw : lives in the Canary Islands, was awarded the , title at London’s Guildhall ; in a brief ceremony, rich j in historic pageantry. The chamberlain of the City of ! London presented her with I a certificate proclaiming i her a freeman of the city. |
